 Basic Tryout Rules & Information

In the event of inclement weather on the day of tryouts or if we are running ahead (or behind) in the schedule we will send out information on Washoe’s Facebook page. Tryouts will be held on Field 1.  Due to COVID regulations, parents will not be allowed in the ballpark but may watch from the grass or parking lot area.  We have staff to make sure your child gets to the right spot.

** All players league age 12, 11, 10 and 9 who wish to be considered for Majors and AAA will tryout Saturday, March 6th

**All players league age 10, 9 and 8 who wish to be considered for AA will try out Sunday, March 7th

When you arrive, you must check in at the table near the entrance to the fields, have your temperature checked, answer COVID questions and receive your tryout number. Please make sure that your child has a mask in their bat bag.

What you should bring
a glove, bat and helmet. If you do not have a USA approved bat or helmet, the League will have some available for you to use. Baseball attire is recommended.  All players hoping to play in the AA, AAA, or Major Divisions must try out to be subject to the draft process.

If you were unable to upload your proof of residency documents during registration, you will need to bring a copy of those forms to tryouts.

**IF A PLAYER DOES NOT TRY OUT, THEY WILL BE RANDOMLY ASSIGNED TO A TEAM BY DRAWING NAMES FROM A HAT. THIS DRAW WILL OCCUR DURING THE DRAFT WITH MANAGERS PRESENT. MANAGERS WILL NOT HAVE THE OPTION TO DRAFT THESE PLAYERS, BUT EACH PLAYER WILL BE ASSIGNED A TEAM.*

Managers and coaches will evaluate the players during tryouts, where all players will have an opportunity to hit 3-4 pitches, run to third base, field a couple of ground balls at short stop and catch a few pop flies. We expect to be on schedule and will try our best to minimize delays.

Players must tryout at the designated time for their age.  The tryout times are an attachment at the bottom of this email.  Major Managers will be present to watch all 12-, 11-, and 10-year-olds. AAA managers will be present to watch all 11-, 10- and 9-year-olds. AA managers will be present to watch the 10-, 9- and 8-year-olds. If they meet the age requirements AND have played a spring season of a particular division, a player is eligible to advance and could be drafted to the next division. If there is any reason you would not be ok with this, please contact me.

If you are unable to tryout, please contact the Player Agent, Amy McAbery at pedsnrsamy@charter.net

You will be contacted by your manager with your team assignment no later than Tuesday, March 9th
